What is less or more than a touch?
- Walt Whitman

Human touch. Our first form of communication. Safety, security, comfort, all in the gentle caress of a finger. Or at the brush of lips in a soft cheek. It connects us when we're happy... bolsters us in times of fear... excites us in times of passion... and love.

TORVI
What happened to you, Lagertha?

LAGERTHA
I almost died but was reborn.

TORVI
You were between life and death. What did that teach you?

LAGERTHA
The only thing that I've learned is that life is about suffering. There is no escape from it. That's the truth. What's important is how we deal with suffering, how we deal with the truth.

Are there words thin enough for such thin lips?
Smiles are more tenuous than laughter,
And their only echo is pain.

He he he he and he and he and and he and he and he and and as and as he and as he and he. He is and as he is, and as he is and he is, he is and as he and he and as he is and he and he and he and he.

- Gertrude Stein
He.
He.
As add to it.
As add to it.
As he
As he as add to it.
He.
As he
Add to it.
Not so far.
Constantly as seen.
Not as far as to mean.
I mean I mean.
Constantly.
As far.
So far.
Forbore.
He forbore.

Now that your life nears its end
when you turn back what you see
is ruin. You think it is a prison. No,
it is a vast resonating chamber in
which each thing you say or do is

new, but the same.

BISHOP HEAHMUND
You saved my life. Thank you.

LAGERTHA
But if I had not spared your life, you would now be in heaven. I believe you are a Christian priest? Isn't that where you would prefer to be?

BISHOP HEAHMUND
I am a priest. But I am also a man. I love God. But I also love life.

LAGERTHA
And what is it about life that you love so much?

BISHOP HEAHMUND
 Its joy. Its pain.

LAGERTHA
And do you love human beings?

BISHOP HEAHMUND
Our Lord loved all human beings. His love was agape, not eros. A great embracing love.

LAGERTHA
And do you have that same embracing love, priest? Do you love men and women just the same?

BISHOP HEAHMUND
I am not our Lord. Agape is too hard for me. I love women, not just spiritually.

LAGERTHA
We have no problems loving the spirit and the flesh. Our gods encourage it.

BISHOP HEAHMUND
Then you have no guilt? No remorse?

LAGERTHA
No.

BISHOP HEAHMUND
I envy you. I have spent many years of my life living sinfully. Even in my thoughts.

LAGERTHA
You're funny. Your thoughts are your thoughts. But if you do terrible things, that is different.
